CT. Crit Racin’
Steve, Matt and I had a good time on Sat. at the Stafford Motor Speedway. Fast and fun – Steve had great chase in the 35+ positioning him for a 13th while Matt and I were somewhat farther back. The 3/4 was a bit sketchier and faster, but we worked it well. Steve took his lucky 13 and I managed a 7th.
Today was an interesting Hartford Downtown Crit. The 30+ field had a bunch of pros in it warming up the for the P123 later. With 5 laps to go there was a crash in the 2nd corner right in front of me. Almost in unison the guy on my left and I bunny-hopped the downed riders and up onto the median. The road was open so I rode up to the next curb cut and jumped onto the back of the field. After working my ass off to get back towards the front before the start/finish, they neutralized the race with 2 (!!!!) to go. There was one guy from TargetTraining ahead and a chase group of 5 that we were about to overtake. We waited on the start line for 10 minutes before they started the lead rider, with 7 seconds to the five chasers and 3 seconds to the field. A 2-lap sprint ensued. I was psyched with a 20th but wished they had given us 5 laps instead.
The P123 was fast. Over 29 mph average for the first 5 laps. Another crash in that one in the final corner to the start/finish straightaway with 2 laps to go. Avoided that and had a field finish.
Great feedback on the kit from someone who knows the shop and team.
This stuff is addicting.
